New York City

i got to new york city at 1030 last friday night and was knocking on my mate andy's door in brooklyn at 1am to let me in. what a legend that in his boozy state he still heard the knock :) after the most amazing nights' sleep i'd had in a while (a room to myself, the second time that's happened in 3 months) we set off in the morning for a wander around the hippest part of town, bedford st brooklyn. andy took me for a bagel and a coffee at one of the australian coffee shops and the coffee was just like i remember it from home. i know that when you're in a new place you should try the food from there, but honestly, at that point in time, all i wanted was a good cup of coffee and something with bacon and avocado in it. the bagel ticked one box, the cortado coffee the other. sweet! i definitely felt like i'd just come from backpacking that day, walking side by side with the most incredible looking hipsters you've ever seen in your havaianas, black jeans and icebreaker t-shirt (because it's the only one you have out of the 3 you brought that was clean) definitely makes you feel like a tourist. felt like i needed some stonewash, boots and a wide brimmed felt hat to blend in a bit more- i was itching to hit up some shops :)

one of the funkiest coffee machines i've seen- ever.
